Things to Do

Santa Rosa is a captivating city that combines the best of Sonoma County’s gorgeous rolling countryside and a hip Californian urban environment. Several local companies offer hot air balloon rides, providing a bird’s eye view of the majestic Sonoma County landscape surrounding the city. Spring Lake Regional Park is a scenic destination featuring a 72-acre boating lake, a summertime swimming lagoon, and close to 10 miles of trails for biking, hiking, running, and horseback riding. There are also a number of campsites within Spring Lake Park for overnight stays. Six miles of trails run through a pristine 216-acre landscape of grassy hills and oak woodlands in Helen Putnam Regional Park. Ridgetop trails within this mini wilderness offer magnificent views of both Santa Rosa and the surrounding countryside. 

Santa Rosa is home to seven golf courses including beautifully maintained private courses at Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club and the Fountaingrove Club. Santa Rosa’s location in Sonoma County Wine Country also means there are plenty of wineries nearby. In the heart of the city, you can sample fine local wines at the tasting rooms of Inspiration VineyardsCarol Shelton Wines, and Donelan Family Wines.

In the hills to the city’s north, Paradise Ridge Winery covers a gorgeous area of 155 acres in the Russian River Valley. Events in Santa Rosa include the spectacular displays of the Wings Over Wine Country Air ShowSonoma County Fair takes place in Santa Rosa each summer with live music, animal and agricultural exhibits, sporting events, dances, expos, and lots more.
