For a more contemporary shopping experience, The Barlow is a popular outdoor shopping mall consisting of eight buildings spread across a 12-acre area spanning four city blocks. The Barlow is home to around 40 artisanal retailers selling locally produced food, art, wine, cheese, spirits, and more. Highlights here include the worker-run non-profit Community Market for organic groceries, trendy clothing store Indigenous for pioneering eco-friendly apparel, and locally inspired contemporary art galleries including Gallery 300 and Lori Austin Gallery. The Barlow is also home to more than 20 restaurants, craft beer and cider pubs, distilleries, wineries, and coffee shops. Some of the standouts among these include Blue Ridge Kitchen for farmhouse-style grilled eats and cocktails, The Farmer’s Wife for farm-fresh seasonal eats, and Golden State Cider for fresh-pressed apple ciders.
 

Things to Do

Sebastopol is surrounded by rolling hills of vineyards belonging to both the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast American Viticultural Areas. You can sample some of the fantastic local varietals at The Barlow’s wine tasting rooms Region, Pax Wines, and Kosta Browne Winery. The many other nearby options for wine connoisseurs include the vintage chardonnay producing Dutton Estate Winery, elegantly modern Lynmar Estate, Sonoma Coast wines specialist Red Car Wine, rustic all-organic Horse & Plow, and Primus frontman Les Claypool’s boutique Claypool Cellars
 
Sebastopol is also famed as Sonoma County’s historic home of Gravenstein apple production. In spring, the Sebastopol Apple Blossom Festival features a parade through Sebastopol’s streets plus live music, fun and games for kids, an art show, and lots of vendors selling locally produced wines, craft beer, and food. The Gravenstein Apple Fair in late summer raises funds for local farms and agricultural producers with animal displays, hay mazes, and lots of delicious apples and apple pies. 
 
Sebastopol is also a major regional arts hub. Along with the numerous galleries located at The Barlow, Sebastopol is home to the award-winning community-funded Sebastopol Center for the Arts. More than 50,000 visitors come to the Sebastopol Center for the Arts every year to experience nine unique curated exhibits and an annual documentary film festival plus a host of art lectures, poetry readings, concerts, open studio events. 
 
Other Sebastopol attractions include cherished Christmas tree farms such as Reindeer Ridge. Visitors to family-run Reindeer Ridge can choose and cut their own Christmas tree to take home. For outdoor recreation, Sebastopol is home to numerous walking and biking trails including the Joe Rodota Trail. This paved off-road trail runs for 8.5 miles between Sebastopol and Santa Rosa.
